Charming and Cheap Rustic Cabin Decor
Over the past few years, we’ve been seeing a lot of decorating trends favor the farmhouse, or rustic style. I recently bought a log cabin that I’m turning in to a vacation rental so it was a no brainer that I would incorporate these styles in to the design. However, after purchasing and furnishing the cabin, by budget was tight for decor. Here are some charming and cheap rustic cabin decor pieces I found to bring this rustic feel into the home.
Wall Decor Ideas
Let’s begin with Gallery Wall Ideas, because who doesn’t love a gallery wall? It’s fun to mix and match pictures, media, and decor to make a feature wall that you’re sure to love. Just start with one piece that you like and then build on it from there by mixing in different materials like metal, wood, and fabrics.
Metal
It’s easy to incorporate metal art in to your gallery wall. I was able to find the three pieces above from Amazon and Hobby Lobby.
First is this Animal Tracks sign that is 8″ by 12″ (about the size of a piece of paper) and is printed on tin. Easy to hang with pre-drilled holes in each corner.
The Metal Bear in a Wooden Canoe, and the Fishing Expeditions signs both came from Hobby Lobby. If you don’t know, Hobby Lobby will discount their Wall Decor by 50% every few weeks. Wait until they are having this sale to purchase your items so you can save a lot of money.
Wood
Mixing different types of wood in to your gallery wall is especially easy using wooden frames, or signs printed directly on to wood.
Another fun way to bring in some wood is by hanging wooden arrows like I have here. They come in many sizes, shapes and colors.
I chose these dark ones for my gallery wall since they are hung on a white wall. You can find lighter ones, chevron style ones, or even a set that you can personalize with your own text.
Fabric
Adding some fabrics to your gallery wall can make a big statement. An easy way to do that is to add a picture painted or printed on canvas. I found this picture of an evergreen tree hand painted on to canvas at an antique store.
Another fun fabric piece I found is this faux deer head. It’s made of resin and is wrapped in a white, velvety fabric with gold painted antlers.
Art
Artwork is another great way to make a statement and really bring your space to life. Since my Airbnb is located in Missouri, and we’d have travelers in and out, I wanted to find some pieces the captured the area.
The website Fine Art America is an amazing place to find anything you are looking for. They have artwork from artists all across the country with any subject you can think of. First, you select the piece you want. Then you select if you’d like it as a canvas, regular print, poster, then framed or not framed. They also have metal and wood options.
For the cabin, I searched “Missouri Landscape” and found a piece instantly that I liked by a Missouri artist, Garry McMichael. I chose five different prints from him to place throughout the cabin.
Coat Rack
Perfect for coats, hats, or even in the bathroom to hold towels. I added a couple of fun ones to the cabin in each bedroom.
This wall mounted coat rack from Amazon is available in brown, like the one pictured here on the right, or a rustic grey color. The double black hooks are sturdy and will hold up well.
This fun horseshoe one from Hobby Lobby is great too, and the price is incredible. Remember, Hobby Lobby discounts their decor items and rotates those discounts every few weeks. Wait for a sale to snag some great prices.
Other Decor Ideas
Finally, let’s take a look at some other elements you can incorporate in to your rustic cabin decor that are both charming and easy on your budget.
Toss Pillows
Pillows are a great way to add a rustic look to your space. I got this 2 pack of buffalo check pillow covers from Amazon and put them over some pillow inserts. The size I have pictured here is the 20″X20″. They have other sizes available.
On the left here I found this adorable watercolor printed pillow cover. This came in a two pack also. I put this cover over an old bed in a bag pillow I was no longer using. This size shown is the 18″X18″. Of course there are other sizes available in this too.
Waste Bin
Here we have this adorable galvanized metal trash bin from Amazon. This was the perfect addition to the coffee bar area. Also, these 6 gallon clear trash bags fit perfectly inside it.
