Easy Way To Hang Patio Lights
Hanging up some patio string lights is a fun and simple way to spruce up your backyard, deck, patio, or garden. But what if you have no walls or trees nearby to hang them from? Here’s a budget friendly and easy way to hang patio lights. So easy in fact that you’ll have it done in less than an hour.
I put up three poles to hang my string lights from. Total cost for supplies was $47.
Supply List
- 3/4″ X 10 foot long Electric Metallic Tube Conduit
- Hitch Pin Clips
- Cable Ties
- Spray Paint (Optional)
- String Lights
Step 1
Begin by spray painting the metal tube conduit to your desired color. Wait about 10-15 minutes in order for them to dry.
Step 2
Next, take a mallet and drive the metal tube conduit in to the ground, at least 6″.
If you can, place the metal tube conduit along a fence, deck railing, near your house, or another object. Then take a cable tie and attach it for added support.
Step 3
Drill a small hole near the top of the metal tube conduit. Insert the hitch pin clip into the holes. By the way, if you’re in the market for a new drill, check out my reviews in the Best Value Cordless Drills For Your Home.
Step 4
Finally, hang your patio string lights from the hitch pin clips.
That’s all there is to it, a quick and easy way to elevate and hang your outdoor lighting. This is especially helpful if you don’t want to drill holes in your siding, brick or stucco to hang them from your house. In fact, you don’t need any nails or screws at all.
There are several styles of outdoor hanging lights to choose from. Be sure to get some rated for outdoors.
