Easy To Install Window Shades
Looking for easy to install window shades? I recently had some new windows installed by Universal Windows Direct. Even though I love the view from my new windows, I needed to add some privacy to the bathroom. I found a couple of great options on Amazon. Both installed in less than the time it takes to bake a sheet of cookies.
Cellular Shades
For the half bath this cordless Cellular Shade by Bliwans works perfect. The cordless option is great for kids and pet safety. There are just two brackets to mount on the inside or outside of your window frame. Easy, one-finger operation to open them or close them. And they’ll stay at whatever position you stop.
The fabric is lightweight to provide privacy while also letting the light in. The unique honeycomb structure stores air in the hollow layer, providing ideal insulation for energy efficiency.
Zebra Blinds
For the large window above the garden tub, Zebra Blinds by Bliwans was the choice. Again, just two brackets are needed to mount these to the window frame. These do feature a cord (beaded chain) that you use to roll the blinds to control the amount of light and privacy you let in. The cord attaches to the window frame so there are no safety concerns here either.
How To Measure
First, determine if you’ll want to mount these on the inside, or outside of your window frame. From there you’ll want to measure the width and length of the window. For length, measure at the far left side, in the middle, and on the far right side. Use the shortest of these three measurements for length. Do the same for the width.
Choose the size window shade that will best fit your window. Buy the size for width that’s either the right size, or slightly smaller than the window itself. If slightly smaller, just center the blinds when installing them. For length, aim for the right size, or slightly longer.
Installation
As far as installation goes, if you can use a screwdriver, then you can install these window shades. Just a couple of screws on two mounting brackets for both types are all that’s needed. Screw the brackets in to the window frame, then snap the shades in to the brackets.
