Organize Your Paperwork With This Easy Trick
Let’s face it, they just don’t make products like they used to. With so many of the products we buy offering manufacturer warranties, and even extended warranties, how do you ensure you have everything you need when it comes time to make a claim? Or troubleshoot a problem? This simple trick will help you organize your receipts and paperwork for warranties and manuals. And it only takes a few minutes to do today.
Practically anything you buy these days comes with some sort of instruction manual. From kids toys, to appliances, lawn mowers, electronics, lamps, phones, the list goes on and on. Perhaps you hate to throw them away just in case you need them one day for troubleshooting issues. Yes, many can be found online, and all it takes is a simple Google search for them when you need. But some may like to keep the paper manuals at the ready, especially when you need to pull one out to fix or adjust something. It’s much easier to take the paper manual to the room where you need to work on something, than to take the laptop with a digital copy.
Plus, it’s a good habit to keep the paper manual, the purchase receipt, and warranty information all together, as this will be needed in case you need to make a warranty claim.
Get Your Receipts and Paperwork All In One Place
All you need is a 3-ring binder and some plastic page protectors. Insert one manual in to each page protector. You can even put the purchase receipt in there too. Additionally, take a Sharpie marker and write directly on to the page protector when the warranty expires. This way that information is right there easy to see, and everything is all together when you need it.
If you have a lot manuals, use several binders and sort them in to categories like, “Electronics”, “Appliances”, “Outdoor”, and “Toys”, etc. About once a year, go through your binders and pull out any manuals that you no longer need.
Now that can organize your paperwork, you can rest assured that when the time comes, you’ll be able to quickly locate everything you need.
