Preparing For Spring Cleaning

Before diving into your spring cleaning checklist, it’s important to take the time to gather all the necessary supplies and equipment. Having the right tools at your disposal can make all the difference in the effectiveness and efficiency of your cleaning efforts. Some key items to gather may include cleaning solutions, sponges, microfiber cloths, gloves, and vacuum attachments. We have some great recommendations on our “What To Buy” page.

Taking the time to gather these items ahead can save you time and frustration during the cleaning process. Additionally, having everything on hand can help you stay focused and motivated to tackle each task on your checklist.

Declutter Your Home

Break Down Your House Cleaning Checklist

If you feel overwhelmed by all of the tasks on your list, you may want to consider breaking it up in to smaller blocks. For example, take the checklist and spread it out over a 30 day period. First, set aside a maximum of one hour per day. Then set a timer and do as many tasks on the checklist as you can in that amount of time. Once the timer is up, stop and continue the next day. Not only is this method easier to manage, it also gives your brain a daily boost of dopamine since you’re completing tasks and crossing things off of the checklist each day.

Additionally, you can do some decluttering of your spaces before you begin. Removing excess items from your home that no longer serves you makes it easier to keep those spaces tidy and clean.

Decluttering

A great way to reduce overwhelm is to break the chores up in to smaller blocks and do a little each day over a thirty day period. Set a timer and only work for a set amount of time each day. Additionally, if your kids are old enough have them help you too. It’s a great way for them to learn independent life skills and the importance of keeping a clean home for your body and your mind.

And finally, don’t forget about the routine home maintenance you should do for your home too in the spring. There are things like mulching the flower beds, and cleaning your AC unit. Grab a free copy of the Home Maintenance Checklist to get to work on those items once your spring cleaning is done.
